The handles are a bit short for an adult, but not too bad (I have small hands so the fit isn't way off). The fork and spoon sizes are obviously also small for an adult - but I've had to eat with Starbucks stir-sticks before when I forgot a fork, these are a huge improvement! ;) The spoon bowl is a little flat - for me, this isn't an issue, but a toddler may have problems keeping food in/on it, unless it's sticky like pudding or yogurt.

For a small child, I'd be wary of the magnet in the carrying case - it could be dangerous if it came loose and was swallowed (note, mine ISN'T loose, and I have no indication it might become loose, but those little magnets are bad news if a child swallows them).
